What was the result of Champaran Satyagraha? 1. Gandhi convinced the ...
The Champaran Satyagraha was a movement led by Mahatma Gandhi in 1917 against the British indigo planters who were forcing the farmers to grow indigo instead of food crops. The movement had the following results:

1. Return of money: Gandhi succeeded in convincing the authorities to return the whole money taken from the peasants as compensation for not growing indigo.

2. Abolition of tinkathia system: The tinkathia system was a contract between the planters and peasants, in which the peasants were forced to grow indigo on 3/20th of their land, and give the entire crop to the planters at a fixed price. However, this system was not immediately abolished after the Satyagraha. It was only a decade later, when the planters left the area, that the peasants were able to break free from the system.

Therefore, option 'D' is correct, as only the second statement is true.
